Tabletop Classes
Class selection is quite similar to other tabletop games, but with some important differences. There are four categories, with three classes allocated to each. Selecting a class is simpler than many other games as it automatically selects weapon proficiencies needed to start playing that class. Therefore, it's fundamentally difficult to create a character who cannot play his or her class.
Combat
The combat-focused classes are as follows:
Swordsman
The swordsman class is a simple, lightly armored fighter optimized for use with swords, as the class name suggests. A swordsman can take additional proficiencies such as blunt
or lanced weapons if he so chooses, but he is not required to. Swordsmen have three class skills, two of which are available at level 0: Doublestrike, Afterimage, and Jump Slash.
Swordsmen favor speed as their preferred stat, obtaining bonuses to damage from improved speed.
Berserker
The berserker class is a diverse class that prefers high damage weapons and brute force to solve player problems. Enemy not going down? Hit it really, really HARD.
Berserkers have immediate proficiency in all heavy class weapons. They have two class skills: Wrath, and Bullrush.
Knight
The knight class is the mounted combat class. All knights obtain a warhorse, whose pedigree depends on their background, at level 0. They are optimized for
lanced and sword combat, prefer armor and barding for their steed, and have immense buffs to mobility and durability due to their mounted status. However they receive huge debuffs
if they are not mounted during a battle and suffer mobility penalties. They have two class skills: Joust charge, and Area Control.
Magic
The magic-focused classes are as follows:
Mage
Mages are the standard magic user class. Capable of specializing in almost any type of magical arts, they are immensely flexible in combat. The abilities and optimization
of a mage are up to the player, and the race chosen for the player character. Mages utilize magical crystals to cast spells that have a limited number of casts during a battle.
they slowly regenerate throughout the day, and additionally the number of casts per crystal rises with every level. A crystal be utilized by hand or combined with a wand, staff or
other implement. They have three class skills: Armorless Resilience, Magical Protection and Apprentice Enthusiasm.
Priest
The priest class is the class for a magic user who wishes to spread anything and everything to do with religion. Belonging to one or more of the six gods, a priest utilizes their own
magic, provides prayers and other services to party members, and is the most optimized of the magic classes for physical combat if required of them. They have two class skills:
Divine Protection, and Clerical Diplomacy
Battlemage
The battlemage class is the mounted magic class. All battle mages obtain a warhorse, whose pedigree depends on their background, at level 0. They are optimized for
nearly any kind of magic, but are less likely to be armored for speed reasons and have immense buffs to mobility and durability due to their mounted status. Like all mounts, they
receive huge debuffs if they are not mounted during a battle. They have one class skill: Magical Vessel, which allows them to start with two crystals.
Stealth
The stealth-focused classes are as follows:
Thief
Thieves are a dynamic and careful class with extreme flexibility regarding charisma, covertness, and speed. Boasting boosts to the aforementioned three, they are capable of being
operated in multiple different contexts and carrying out anything from an assassination to a heist. They have three class skills: Fencing, Backstab and Fast talk.
Ranger
The ranger class is an archer and tracker class with the ability to equally move silently in the dark, and yet fight in an encounter. Balanced across fighting and stealth skills,
they are not a force to be taken lightly. As they can utilize bows and crossbows equally with swords, they are an excellent beginner classs. They have two class skills: Perimeter, and
Fauna Mimicry
Dragoon
The Dragoon class is the mounted stealth class. All dragoons obtain a warhorse, whose pedigree depends on their background, at level 0. They are unique in being the only class
who can obtaina non-equine mount, such as a wyvern, without a class promotion. Dragoons are outlaws who prefer evasion and secrecy over fighting fairly, and are
considered to be tricksters and ruffians near universally. They have less penalties for not being mounted than other mounted classes, and have two class skills:
Mount, and Dehorsing.
Support
The support-focused classes are as follows:
Healer
Healers are the standard support class, and as their name suggests possess the most healing abilities of any class in the game. Whether simple healing, poison, petrification,
or diseases, the healer is capable of handling most anything a traveler will face. Healers can specialize and leverage other support abilities as well, to lesser degrees of
effectiveness. They are granted three class skills: Status Resistance, Egress, and Eager Learner.
Bard/Dancer
The bard and dancer class is unique for its ability to refresh other players, allowing them to attack twice in a round. Most bards in aiogara are male, while most dancers are female.
other than minor stat differences they do not differ heavily, and GMs are given the ability to make exceptions to allow male dancers and female bards. In addition to their refresh
capability, they are able to utilize other songs to help the party or harm/repel the enemy. They have two class skills, in addition to refresh: Lucky, and Opposites Attract.
Troubadour
The Troubadour class is the mounted support class. All troubadours obtain a warhorse, whose pedigree depends on their background, at level 0. Troubadours are an advanced class
as they cannot attack in battle at all, except if their horse rears up to attack. Instead of songs, troubadours use both spell crystals and "techniques" to support the party.
Troubadours have no stat buffs, but are blessed with high proficiency bonuses upon level up, and receieve experience bonuses for risk-taking. Like all mounts, they receive debuffs
if not mounted during battle. They have four class skills: Improved Crystal Proficiency, Make Haste, Trick Shot, and Language Acquisition.
